Abstract
Objective: Review of one case of Asherman`s syndrome and evaluation of diagnosis and treatment.
Design: Case report and literature review.
Setting: Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Ulleval University Hospital, Oslo,Norway.
Patient: Asherman`s syndrome in 27 year old woman developed due to 2 times dilatation and curettage(D&C) the 4th week postpartum.
Intervention: Diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy.
Main outcome: Removal of intrauterine adhesions and restoration of normal uterine cavity.Positive prospects of normal menstrual bleeding,symptomatic relief and postoperative reproductive performance.
Results: The Patient was diagnosed with severe,stage III,intrauterine adhesions. An operative hysteroscopy was performed and a normal uterine cavity was re-established successfully.
Conclusion: Operative hysteroscopic treatment appears safe for the reconstruction of a functional endometrial cavity in women with Asherman`s syndrome. Postoperative therapy with oestrogen and IUD appears helpful, but further studies are needed.
