Abstract
Regionalization is a common approach for runoff prediction in the basin lacking observed discharge data (called ungauged basin). Regionalization is the process of borrowing information (e.g. the hydrological model parameters) from similar gauged basins for ungauged target basins. This thesis aims to find the most suitable regionalization method for ungauged basins in Norway, coupled with different hydrological models. The results show that the best performed approach for runoff prediction in ungauged basins is, first, running runoff simulations with the model parameters from the gauged catchments with similar climatic and geographical features, then, applying the averaged simulation into the ungauged target basin. This finding is especially true for hydrological models with higher number of parameters.
